If you have enough XP to gain a new level, then you need to use the Training Action to gain that level. Together with that action you need to write in the following:

1. What class you gain your new level in
2. What if any new feats you choose
3. Where you place your new skill points
4. And if you're a wizard, your two free spells

Through adventuring you might also unlock something (for the ease of it) we can call prestige classing or advanced leveling. If that becomes relevant, you'll get a mail about the details. Might, or might not, be worth it at that time.
